The football fan was mistaken for Aston Villa player Jacob Ramsey.
A stunned footie fan was mistaken for an Aston Villa player and hounded by 'hundreds' of fans before a game - but opted to pose for snaps and sign shirts so he didn't let them down.

Villa fan Amando Boakye arrived at the Mestalla Stadium in Valencia, Spain, on Saturday [August 5] to watch his favourite team from the stands but local spectators got the wrong impression.

The 23-year-old, who was wearing his beloved club's claret and sky blue training top complete with a squad number and slim fit jogging bottoms, was quickly surrounded by football fanatics who 'thought he was a player'.

Hilarious footage shows them crowded around Amando who 'lived his dream' by calmly posing for pictures and even signs one fan's autograph book 'like a professional'.

The charity worker claims he attracted a crowd of more than 200 people and spent an hour before the 9pm kick-off vs Valencia interacting with them.

Amando, who had travelled from Ghana to watch his first live game, says 'it was a dream come true' to be treated like one of his heroes.

He says he didn't want to tell 'determined' spectators he wasn't a player because the good sport felt he 'had to make them happy'.

The superfan's video of the incident has been viewed more than 600,000 times and in the caption he explains people may have thought he was Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey.

He made headlines in 2021 by revealing his whole town of more than 1,000 people support The Villains because his grandad Daniel Aboajyg, who died in 2010, loved them.

Amando, from Juaben, Ashanti Region, Ghana, said: "It felt like I was a player and I was living my dream of playing for Aston Villa.

"When people saw me they thought I was a footballer because of the clothes I was wearing. I'm very energetic so it shows I'm a footballer too.

"I was wearing last season's training top and it was completely different from what everybody was wearing over there.

"Even before the game I walked to the city centre and people thought I was a player but they didn't say anything. I was shocked.

"When I got to the stadium some people came to me and asked for a photo and I just said 'no problem', then many people came. I drew a crowd of more than 200.

"People wanted autographs and pictures and I did them for an hour before the game. I've never seen anything like it in my life.

"They were eager to take the pictures with me so I felt I had to do it to make them happy. I was relaxed and doing it for them like a professional."

Amando, who runs Aston Villa fan group Ghana Lions, is staying in Luxembourg with a friend and travelled to Valencia for the game.

He claims the 2-1 victory was the 'best moment of his life' and he hopes to one day visit England and watch his team at their home ground Villa Park in Birmingham.

The video of him signing autographs and posing for snaps has earned almost 4,000 likes on Twitter with baffled users replying.

One said: "Haha. F**king priceless. A young fellas dream come true."

A second said "I have no idea what is happening in this footage. I don't think our man [Amando] does either."

A third added: "I'm sure they think you are Villa's new signing. Great act though."
