説明

Filmed in Brazil in 2021.

What was supposed to be a peaceful morning in the routine of nanny and cook Luziene Lindoso do Nascimento, 30, turned into a scare after a domestic accident in the house where she works in the Glória neighborhood, in Bento Gonçalves . For 40 seconds, her hair was on fire, without her noticing, while she was preparing lunch for the children.
The scene was recorded by a camera installed inside the residence.
In a good mood, Luziene says that she was standing in front of the stove to start browning an onion, when she had to bend down to pick up a bowl. At that moment, the video shows her hair touching the stove and it is also possible to see the beginning of the flames on her head. Then, the nanny continues doing her household chores, picks up onions that fell on the floor and returns to the stove to stir another pan:
— I smelled something burning, but I thought it was my apron. You can see in the video that I ran my hand over my body several times to see if it was something, but it was never anything. I started to worry because (the smell) was getting stronger and stronger, and I never imagined that it was my hair on fire — she explains.
Luziene said she only realized the
accident when she saw herself in the glass of the microwave oven.
— I was terrified at the time because when I started hitting the fire to put it out, my hair started falling to the ground. It all happened very quickly, and I don't know how I didn't hurt my hands. At the time, I didn't really realize how serious it was when they showed me the video. I don't understand how it took me so long to realize the fire — she says.

Despite the accident and the scare, she says she did not need medical attention and continued working normally that day. All she remembers is the trauma: every time she smells something burning, she says she remembers the moments of distress she went through last week.
Originally from Cajari, Maranhão, and living in the Serra Gaúcha for five years, Luziene says she had never experienced anything like it. Thankful that the fire did not reach her scalp, which could have caused a more serious accident, she said she still does not know what to do to recover her hair.
— I looked like that clown Bozo, with hair on the sides and nothing on top. It all burned off, and what was left was really short. A little more would have stuck to my head.
