This is the moment a horse falls during an illegal race throwing its rider who then uses a motorbike to catch up with it before getting back on it like something out of an Indiana Jones film.
The incident took place at the administrative centre of Kavathe-Mahankal in the district of Sangli located in the western Indian state of Maharashtra after a group of residents allegedly organised an illegal horse race on the streets.
According to local media, two unnamed men raced each other while friends followed on motorbikes.
One of the horses slipped and fell on the tarmac, throwing its rider at the same time.
Rather than lose the race, the rider got on the back of a motorbike and caught up with his horse before jumping on the galloping animal and continuing.
The race was filmed by a group member and footage shows the moment the man is thrown from the horse before it continues running alone on the street.
He then jumps on the back of a pal’s motorbike and catches up to the horse, which is still leading the race with the second contestant following just behind.
In a rather unsporting move, the man leaps from the motorbike onto the back of the horse and continues racing in the lead as excited pals whoop and cheer.
