This is the moment panicked villagers scramble to rescue the driver of a burning lorry after he bravely tried to move the blazing vehicle away from the crowd but it toppled over trapping him inside.
The incident was filmed by locals on the Damoh-Jabalpur road near the village of Kalhara in the district of Katni in the northern Indian state of Madhya Pradesh and shared on social media.
According to reports, the lorry caught fire for unknown reasons near the village and the driver was asked to move it to a safe zone.
It is unclear what was being transported in the vehicle at the time, although reports said that the goods on board were completely destroyed in the fire.
Despite overturning and reportedly becoming trapped in the cab, the lorry driver was plucked to safety by bystanders.
In the footage, the lorry is seen by the side of the road as fire and black smoke bellow from the burning container.
Shouting villagers appear to ask the lorry driver to move the vehicle and the unnamed man starts the engine and joins the road.
He then appears to try to park it on the roadside, but the huge vehicle teeters on an incline and ends up toppling onto its side.
Dozens of panicked villagers run to the driver’s aid and he is seen being helped out of the cab.
It is unclear whether the local authorities are investigating the incident.
