This is the extraordinary moment a skilled athlete appears to float several inches off the ground while lying back on a thin steel wire and gently swinging as though it were a hammock.
The scene was filmed in the city of Shiyan, in the Chinese province of Hubei, and the images were shared on Douyin, which is what TikTok is called in China, on 5th December.
The video shows the man stretched out, apparently on thin air, while maintaining his balance with no visible support beneath him.
But he was reportedly lying on a two-millimetre steel wire, carefully balancing himself with his arms.
A witness named Xiao said he initially could not see what the man was resting on and only noticed the steel wire when he got closer.
He claimed the man lay on the cable for one to two hours.
Social media users described the display as proof that “hidden masters exist among ordinary people”.
