A lorry driver who narrowly escaped death when his vehicle was left hanging off a collapsed bridge has become an online star after the dramatic footage went viral.
You Guochun was left trapped when part of the G76 Xiarong Expressway gave way in the county of Sandu in the Chinese province of Guizhou on 24th June, with footage showing his red cab hanging above a 100-ft drop.
You had been hauling 22 tonnes of ore when he felt the road suddenly sink and braked hard, but the cab and three rows of wheels still shot more than seven metres (23 feet) beyond the broken edge.
He barely dared to move inside the suspended cab, trying even to steady his breathing as he feared the weight of the load could trigger further collapse.
A second driver, named as Liang Zulian, arrived soon after and placed warning cones 200 metres behind the stranded lorry to warn other motorists.
Rescuers extracted You after around two hours. The footage then spread rapidly online, pushing his social-media following from just over 1,000 to 275,000 within a week, with his account now exceeding 400,000 followers and nearly 3 million likes.
He started doing livestreams and says he now often gets recognised by people in cities across China.
Despite his newfound online fame, You continues to drive long-haul routes and says trucking remains his main source of income.
You, who left school before graduating and worked various jobs before becoming a trucker in 2015, said that despite his fame, he cannot easily change careers in midlife.
He hopes eventually to become a livestream host specialising in supporting farmers in remote mountain areas by helping them sell agricultural products online.
