This is the moment a portable gas stove explodes during a restaurant meal, hitting the eight diners sitting around the table with huge flames.
The incident happened as eight men ate together when a tabletop gas stove suddenly detonated and fire engulfed the table before they scrambled away in panic in the city of Beijing, the capital of China, on 11th December.
CCTV footage shows the stove exploding without warning and a fireball instantly surrounding the group.
Several diners are seen leaping back as flames surge across the table, with reports saying some of the men had their hair set alight as a result of the blast.
The video has sparked public concern after being shared widely online. Local reports say such portable butane gas stoves should not be stored or used in dining areas of restaurants under existing rules.
Fire officials say misuse can lead to explosions when cookware is too large and covers the gas canister.
Authorities say heat can transfer through oversized pots causing the gas bottle temperature and pressure to rise.
Improper installation of the gas canister can also cause leaks that ignite when exposed to flame.
Officials warn that using such stoves near other heat sources or in confined spaces increases the risk of explosion.
Fire services urged the public to buy approved products and follow safety instructions carefully.
