This is the moment a section of ceiling suddenly falls on top of schoolgirls in a packed classroom, injuring three youngsters.

The incident took place at the Jhulelal Trust School in the town of Ulhasnagar in the district of Thane located in the western Indian state of Maharashtra when a portion of the plaster ceiling suddenly fell during class.

According to local media, the injured students have been identified as 16-year-old Jia Tekchandani, 15-year-old Dia Bhatija, and 14-year-old Ishika Chugh and their parents were immediately informed of the accident.

The students’ parents rushed to the school where they were told by administrators that the three students involved only sustained minor injuries.

In the video footage, several students are seen filing out of class while holding their head.

Those hurt by the falling ceiling section were treated by a school nurse before being allowed to leave for the rest of the day, according to reports.

The parents of one of the teen victims said that these kinds of accidents take place regularly due to negligence while also posing a threat to pupils.

Public relations officer for the Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation, Yuvraj Bhadane, said: “Our staff have also visited the school to find out the reason behind the incident.”

It is currently unclear whether the authorities are investigating the claims of negligence.
