This is the moment a toddler playing on a pavement is knocked off his toy bike and run over by a reversing SUV driver who luckily avoids crushing the boy.
The one-year-old from Guiyang’s Baiyun District, which is in Guizhou Province in south-western China, was hurt as the car drove over his right arm but ultimately survived without any life-threatening injuries.
The incident was captured by a CCTV camera outside the Yidun Gongguan Residential District, where the boy’s family lives, on 12th September.
In the video, the child is seen sitting on his plastic toy bike when the white SUV knocks him to the ground with its front bumper.
As the tot is sprawled on the ground, the vehicle drives right over him, rolling over his arm before the boy is seen again still in one piece and largely unharmed.
The tot’s mum, Ms Zou, said: “Doctors said his bones weren’t harmed, but I didn’t know what had happened until I saw the security footage.
“I thought the car had only bumped into him.”
According to reports, the SUV owner and other motorists have been parking illegally on the pavement where the boy was playing.
The pavement is made accessible by a steel ramp placed against the kerb by a car wash business, but its staff members say it is only to be used by customers who drive straight into their shop.
The management office of the Yidun Gongguan residential area said motorists have been parking illegally on the pavement due to a shortage of parking spaces in the complex.
It was not clear whether the SUV’s owner had been reported to the police or whether the matter was settled privately with the boy’s family.
