This footage shows a bungling best man getting down on one knee in front of the stunned bride and groom as wedding guests erupt in a chorus of laughter.
The incident took place in the city of Xuzhou in the eastern Chinese province of Jiangsu, which is on the east coast just north of Shanghai.
The footage shows the best man, who also appears to be the ring bearer, walking up to the bride and groom before he suddenly shocks the entire wedding party by getting down on one knee and offering up the rings as if he was proposing to the happy couple, who have not been named.
The groom slaps a hand to his face in a clear 'facepalm moment' while the bride holds her sides as she laughs uncontrollably.
Apparently realising his unfortunate mistake, the best man, who has not been named, quickly gets to his feet and appears sheepish as the laughter continues.
Local media said the person who filmed the footage speculated that the best man may have seen too many films and television shows about weddings and proposals, resulting in him becoming confused.
