This is the moment a tyre explodes in a repair worker’s face as he tries to remove the air hose, sending debris flying through the air just inches from him.
The incident happened outside a repair shop in the city of Shenzhen, in Guangdong province, southern China, on 2nd February.
CCTV footage shows the worker working near the wheel as it suddenly detonates, knocking him flat onto his back before he quickly scrambles out of the way.
Two customers and another worker are seen watching on in shock as debris scatters across the ground following the blast.
The tyre had just been repaired and was being inflated when it exploded.
The repair shop later said the customer originally came in to change to a spare tyre, but staff found only a single nail and were asked to repair it instead.
According to the shop, the tyre showed signs of having been driven while deflated.
Although there was no visible damage on the outside, the internal structure had already been damaged, which led to the explosion during inflation after the repair.
Fortunately, the worker was not seriously injured and the shop later warned drivers not to repair tyres that have been driven on while flat, even if they appear undamaged.
