This is the viral moment - with 38.2 million views - a generous chimpanzee shares its apple with a tortoise allowing the reptile to nibble on it.
The footage was originally shared on the popular Chinese video-sharing social network TikTok by netizen ‘Mokshabybee’ where it has gone viral with 38.2 million views and 2.4 million likes at the time of writing.
Although it is unclear where the footage was taken, the story made the headlines in India after it was shared by Indian Forest Service (IFS) officer Susanta Nanda who also scored a viral hit with it.
Nanda’s post has reportedly been viewed 2.3 million times on TikTok.
The IFS officer shared the video with the caption: “Love only grows by sharing.”
In the clip, the generous chimp is seen sitting on the grass as it proffers the apple to a tortoise standing by its side.
With another chimpanzee looking on, the tortoise takes several nibbles of the apple before the first chimp takes a couple of bites.
The kindhearted chimp then shares the fruit with the tortoise again while rubbing its brow and scanning the horizon.
The viral footage attracted netizens’ comments such as “what great bonding”, “such an amazing video” and “this brought happiness to my day”.
