This is the heart-stopping moment a scooter rider falls under a moving lorry and somehow climbs out a split second before the wheels can run him over.
Traffic camera footage from the county of Fanchang, which is in Wuhu in East China’s Anhui Province, shows electric scooter rider Mr Gao and a tanker lorry both entering a junction at the same time on 5th June.
Mr Gao fails to stop for a red light while the lorry makes a legal right turn at the crossroads, the police said about the CCTV images.
Mr Gao brakes when he spots the tanker lorry, but then falls off the small scooter as it skids on the wet road surface.
In the video, he accidentally rolls into the undercarriage of the lorry trailer as it turns.
A witness standing on a street corner watches in horror as it appears the scooter rider is about to be crushed under the lorry’s wheels, but the man is somehow able to scramble to safety a split second before the vehicle runs him over.
Mr Gao trips over his scooter as he escapes, but the authorities said he suffered no serious injuries besides some light abrasions on his back.
The police have described Mr Gao as “lucky”, but said he would be held fully liable for the incident as he ran a red light, causing the scare.
