A car travelling at high speed crashed through a concrete barrier and landed on a busy road in a real-life version of something that looks like a Hollywood action movie.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Heydar Aliyev Avenue and Alesker Gaibov Street in the Nizami district of Baku in Azerbaijan, on 10th April.
Video footage shows the vehicle smashing through the barrier, falling onto the road below amidst moving traffic, and hitting another wall before coming to rest in the middle of the road amid rubble and debris.
The crash involved a BYD vehicle driven by Anar Shahmar oglu Najafov, born in 1974. The BYD collided with a Ford vehicle which was travelling along Heydar Aliyev Avenue.
Najafov sustained injuries in the accident and was transported to Sabunchu Medical Centre.
Medical reports indicate that he suffered a laceration to his left knee and is currently in stable condition.
A female passenger, born in 1976, was also injured, sustaining a chest contusion.
She received necessary medical attention and was discharged for outpatient treatment.
The accident caused significant traffic congestion in both directions, including towards the 'Koroglu' metro station.
Police officers responded promptly to the scene, and the congestion was cleared shortly thereafter.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
