This is the amazing moment a cabbie's life is saved by his seatbelt when it deflected the razor-sharp knife blade of a would-be teenage mugger on his back seat.
Chilling in-car footage of the botched hold-up shows the baby-faced 13-year-old giving the driver instructions as they ride around the city of Sungai Petani, in the district of Kedah, in Malaysia, on 27th November.
But as they pull over to the kerb and the cabbie pulls out a wad of banknotes from his pocket the boy lunges forward with a terrifying 10-inch long knife.
Astonishingly as he tries to plunge it into the driver's chest the seat belt deflects the blade and the cabbie grabs the boy's knife hand.
As they grapple the unnamed 65-year-old driver sinks his teeth into the teen's wrist and he lets go of the the knife and runs from the taxi as the footage ends.
Local Police Chief Zaidy Che Hassan said the boy had been arrested a few hours later and claimed he had been angry because the driver had told him off.
Hassan said the pair had rowed when the boy asked the driver to give him rent and the cabbie ordered him out of the car.
The police are investigating the attack.
