This is the moment a glowing ‘UFO’ is seen rising into the evening sky and disappearing beyond the dark clouds.
The unidentified flying object was filmed in the Russian republic of Tuva, located in southern Siberia and populated by traditionally nomadic, yurt-dwelling tribes.
In the widely-shared footage, a glowing light is seen slowly ascending in the evening sky before disappearing beyond the dark clouds.
A voice in the background says: “Look, what is it? Aliens maybe?”
Another person replies: “No, it's probably a drone.”
According to the news site Komsomolskaya Pravda, the light could have been from the comet NEOWISE which was discovered on 27th March and became bright enough to see with the naked eye in July. It is also one of the brightest comets in the northern hemisphere since Comet Hale-Bopp in 1997.
However, some social media users said it could have been the Russian ‘Progress’ cargo spacecraft which entered orbit on 23rd July.
Other netizens suggested that it was a meteorite.
The local authorities have yet to issue a statement about the eerie light.
Social media user ‘Stanislav Prokopyev’ said: “Finally, aliens have arrived. Maybe they can sort this government out.”
