This is the moment a copper thief gets his comeuppance and is catapulted into the air by a car.
Footage from San Luis Potosi, Mexico, shows how an opportunistic crook bends over a lamppost apparently felled in a prior accident in between lanes on a busy road.
As he rummages around for copper wires to steal, his accomplice walks into frame and lifts the damaged pole up slightly, apparently to try to uproot it.
But as he does so, he inadvertently moves the top of the lamppost into the path of oncoming traffic.
When a fast-moving pickup truck hits it, he is catapulted into the air and out of view.
Local media said that he landed with a thud on the tarmac on the other side of the road several feet away.
The nature of the injuries he sustained in the fall is unclear and it is also not known what happened to his accomplice.
The clip did the rounds on social media, racking up more than 100,000 views after being shared earlier this month (April).
One netizen commented: "I won't laugh to avoid going to hell. But that's karma 100 per cent."
And another social media user lamented: "Now even entire poles are being stolen by these rats. What kind of world do we live in?"
