These images show how streaks of unknown luminous objects lit up the night sky over Kazakhstan, stunning people on the ground who recorded the incredible scenes with their phones.
Most of the imagery was filmed in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, where the Kazakh Ministry of Defence urged people to remain calm and said that no airspace violations had taken place.
Video footage of the scenes on 5th June shows numerous balls of light shooting across the night sky, not unlike a meteor shower.
But the Kazakh Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry said that they were not meteors and were most likely space debris re-entering the Earth's atmosphere.
They also said that they were investigating the phenomenon to determine exactly what it was.
The scenes were filmed by locals in the capital Astana, but also in Karaganda, Pavlodar and Kostanay.
