This is the horrifying moment a woman trying to stop a thief by hitting him with her vehicle accidentally mows down the victim of the robbery instead.
A surveillance camera recorded the incident in the Montefresco neighbourhood, in the city of San Pedro Sula, in Honduras, on 21st November, but the footage has only emerged now.
The footage shows a woman in a yellow dress walking along the road while another woman stands at a house door calling to be let inside.
A man in a green shirt and shorts then approaches the second woman from behind and grabs her bag in an attempt to rob her.
The pair struggle for several seconds as the driver of a passing vehicle appears to notice what is happening from a distance.
The car accelerates as the driver aims directly at the suspected thief in an effort to stop the robbery.
The video shows the man managing to snatch the bag before leaping aside into a corner to avoid being struck.
The vehicle then hits the victim instead, knocking her to the ground, while the thief escapes with the stolen items.
Additional footage shows the driver immediately getting out of the vehicle in distress to assist the injured woman.
Local reports said the thief fled before authorities arrived at the scene.
The current condition of the young woman who was hit remains unknown, with police investigations ongoing.
Neighbours have voiced concern over rising insecurity in Montefresco and said a lack of visible and timely police presence has left residents vulnerable.
