Twelve tourists were injured when the balcony they were standing on collapsed while they were taking selfies.
The women, all volunteers at a local public health office, were on a work holiday when they stood on the second floor balcony to snap photos.
However, the structure buckled under their weight at the Rommai Reunngam Resort in Chiang Mai, Thailand, on February 4.
Footage shows the group huddled together for a picture before a section of the concrete balcony plunged to the ground.
A member of staff at the hotel said: 'Nobody knew that the balcony was not strong enough. Lots of people take selfies there, because there is a nice view of the garden.'
Authorities said two people suffered fractures, two had head injuries, and the rest had bruises and scratches from the fall.
Medics arrived at the scene and rushed the injured guests to the Klai Mor Hospital.
Hang Dong District chief Chalit Thipkhamlater said: 'The balcony was built in line with the approved construction plans. However, the owner added an extension, which was fastened with bolts, without proper authorisation.'
Chalit said the bolts were not strong enough to bear the group's weight, resulting in the balcony collapsing.
He added engineers from the sub-district office will be sent to inspect the building at the resort. If deemed unsafe, it may be temporarily closed.
Meanwhile, the Hang Dong District Office said it will be compensating the injured for their expenses.
