A sniffer dog was given a hero's send off at his retirement ceremony in Wisconsin.
Footage shows the six-year-old K-9 pooch following luggage along the hall before dozens of tennis balls rained down on him from delighted passengers and colleagues at the Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee on May 2.
Staff said that Rex has been working alongside his handler Regina Eisenberg for five years in explosive detection.
Regina said: 'As handlers, we understand the profound dedication these dogs have to their work. Rex has been an exemplary partner, and it's time for him to enjoy a well-deserved retirement.'
Regina will now transition to a new role at O-Hare Airport as a K-9 supervisor.
Tim Goodman, assistant federal security director at TSA Wisconsin, said 'Rex's invaluable role in enhancing security measures at Mitchell International Airport.'
He said: 'Rex exemplifies the dedication and effectiveness of our K-9 teams in detecting explosives and ensuring passenger safety.
His retirement marks a significant milestone, and we're proud to celebrate his service.'
He added Rex will transition from a working dog to a domestic dog. He said: 'While Rex may no longer be on duty, his legacy of service and dedication will endure. We're immensely grateful for his contributions to airport security.'
