説明
This is the shocking moment a Chinese tourist who posed for a video while hanging from a train door was struck by a tree branch.
The backpacker was swinging from the steps of the moving carriage to pose for a video with the idyllic sunset in the capital Colombo, Sri Lanka, on December 7.
Footage captured by her friend, Zhi, shows the holidaymaker leaning back as her white dress dramatically fluttered in the wind - only to be hit by a tree branch on the head. She lost her balance and fell off the couch, rolling into the bushes next to the railway.
Police officers told local media that the woman survived with only minor injuries, as the bushes had cushioned her fall.
Authorities urged tourists to comply with safety regulations while travelling.
Sri Lanka is known for its scenic train rides between the cities of Colombo and Galle, offering stunning views the Indian Ocean and palm-lined shores along the coastal rail.
However, the attraction has become a death trap as selfie-crazed tourists flout rules by hanging out of moving trains to take photos.
Last week, an Iranian tourist, 37, was critically injured after hitting her head on a utility pole near the Ohiya-Idalgashinna Railway Station. She was reportedly taking a selfie on the carriage footboard.
While in January, a Russian woman, 25, smashed her head against a tunnel wall on a moving train travelling to Ella town. She was rushed to the Badulla Teaching Hospital for severe head injuries.
In October 2016, a female Chinese tourist was killed when she fell off a Colombo-bound train. She was said to have been taking a selfie while hanging from the footboard of the carriage.
The temptation to take selfies from third-world trains is also a danger in Thailand. In August this year, passenger Fadi Rose, 19, was swinging from the steps of the moving carriage when her head to slammed into a post along the railway in Phatthalung province.
