This is the hilarious moment a hippo spat out a cabbage that had been tossed into its mouth.
Arlinda Nur Walidaini and her friends spotted two river horses relaxing in the water under the sun when they decided to feed one of them at Taman Safari in Bogor, Indonesia.
Footage shows the group calling out to the beasts, which then swam towards them on September 27.
Moments later, one of the animals positioned itself in front of the visitors and opened its enormous jaws, prompting one of Arlinda's friends to throw the cabbage into its gaping mouth.
The hippo quickly clamped its jaws shut before realising it did not like the snack, pushing the vegetable back out with its tongue and letting it plop into the water.
The group can be heard gasping in shock, visibly caught off guard by the creature's reaction.
They then burst into fits of laughter as the hippo, seemingly unimpressed with their choice of food, stared back at them.
Arlinda said: 'We were so shocked when it behaved that way. We could not believe it. My friends and I also fed other animals there, like zebras. Hippopotamuses have been quite trendy lately, which is also why we visited the zoo.'
Hippopotamuses are herbivores. They mainly graze on short grasses, occasionally feed on aquatic plants, and will sometimes eat fruit when available.
