This is the shocking moment an office ceiling collapsed from pooled water just as a man lit his cigarette.
CCTV footage shows the worker sitting at his desk flicking a lighter onto his cigarette when a sudden torrent of water from a leaking pipe above drenched him in Sichuan, China.
He can be seen soaked by the downpour that flooded his workstation on September 22.
His laptop and phone were left dripping wet, prompting him to immediately flip the laptop over and unplug his smartphone from the charging port.
Local media reported that the pipe had been leaking for some time, and the weight of the accumulated water finally caused the ceiling to give way just as he struck the lighter.
The employee said: 'I hadn't even lit the cigarette, hadn't even taken a puff - how come this water suddenly came down?'
Experts said that fire sprinklers only activate when temperatures reach around 70 to 80 degrees Celsius, confirming that the burst was caused by the leak rather than the lighter.
