This is the shocking moment an elderly man narrowly escaped a lightning strike as molten rain fell around his home.
CCTV footage shows heavy rain battering the area when the lightning bolt struck the roof of the house in Liaoning, China.
A shower of sparks can be seen cascading into the yard and hitting the ground on September 30.
In another angle of the video, a woman standing in the doorway inside the house was startled by the loud noise and falling sparks.
She quickly backed away in fear and stood still, visibly shaken by what had happened.
The homeowner said: ‘The elderly man had left the yard only five minutes before the strike. I'm glad that our electrical appliances at home were not damaged.'
