This is the heart-stopping moment a cyclist leapt out of the path of an out-of-control bus in India.
CCTV footage shows the biker approaching a rider entering a Mother Dairy outlet in Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday, November 23.
Moments later, a speeding coach veered into the cyclist's way, forcing him to jump from his two-wheeler. He escaped by just a few inches before the bus slammed into the wall of the building.
The crash occurred after a Swift Dzire car ahead reportedly braked suddenly, causing the bus, carrying more than 30 passengers, to swerve sharply and plough into the gate.
The front of the vehicle was completely crushed on impact, sparking panic among commuters.
At least 30 travellers were reportedly injured. Twenty-four were rushed to the trauma centre at Saifai Medical University, with four said to be in a critical condition.
Police arrived shortly afterwards and launched rescue operations.
Early investigations suggest the sudden braking of the car ahead, combined with the bus's high speed, were the primary causes of the crash.
India has one of the highest rates of road accidents in the world, with thousands of fatalities and injuries reported each year.
The startling bad track record is blamed on unsafe road conditions, reckless driving, inadequate enforcement of traffic laws, and a lack of awareness about road safety.
