Dramatic CCTV footage shows the young girl standing outside a building by the roadside when the overloaded truck passing by began skidding in her direction in Telangana, India.
Metal scraps carried by the heavy goods vehicle tumbled across the area, toppling parked motorcycles upon impact on the Hyderabad-Bijapur National Highway on December 21.
In a stroke of luck, a metal railing fell over the toddler, inadvertently shielding her from the falling debris.
Bystanders rushed to the scene to rescue the youngster, lifting the heavy grill to pull her to safety.
Local media reported that the child did not sustain any injuries in the incident.
The accident disrupted traffic for nearly two hours while emergency services worked to clear the wreckage and reopen the highway.
Authorities said that this stretch of the Hyderabad-Bijapur corridor, especially around Manneguda and Vikarabad, has become notorious for frequent accidents involving lorries.
They have warned motorists to exercise extra caution and remain vigilant while travelling through the area.
