This is the shocking moment celebratory powder ignited during a politician's victory parade, sparking panic in India.
Footage shows a sudden fireball erupting in a packed street as supporters celebrated an election win in Jejuri, Maharashtra, on December 21.
The blaze broke out during celebrations following the local civic body victory of the Ajit Pawar-led NCP faction, when gulaal, a coloured powder, was thrown into the air.
Officials said the powder came into contact with an open flame, believed to be from burning camphor and ceremonial lamps, triggering the flash fire.
At least 18 people were injured, many suffering burns to their faces, hands, and upper bodies.
All the injured were rushed to a nearby government hospital. Authorities said two people sustained serious burns, while others suffered minor to moderate injuries. No fatalities were reported.
Police have launched an investigation and urged political parties and the public to avoid flammable materials and open flames during public celebrations.
