This is the shocking moment a vehicle lost control and veered off the road when a tyre burst, injuring the priest driving it in India.
Father Andrew Leo D'Souza, a parish priest at St Lawrence Shrine and Church in Bondel, was returning from his native place Neerude after attending a New Year get-together when the crash occurred in Mangaluru on January 1.
Local media reported that one of the car's tyres burst while he was driving, causing the vehicle to lose control.
The car toppled onto its side in the courtyard of a house located below the roadside.
Neighbours rushed to the scene, helped turn the vehicle upright, and assisted him in exiting the car safely.
Father D'Souza said: 'I believe it was God's grace that saved me from a potentially fatal accident.'
India has one of the highest rates of road accidents in the world, with thousands of fatalities and injuries reported each year.
The startling bad track record is blamed on unsafe road conditions, reckless driving, inadequate enforcement of traffic laws, and a lack of awareness about road safety.
