This is the shocking moment a street vendor narrowly avoids a speeding car that smashes into his cart in India.
CCTV footage shows the seller pushing his trolley while vehicles passed along the narrow street in Faridabad, Haryana, on January 1, around 8 pm local time.
Moments later, he looked back upon hearing a honk in Sanjay Colony in Sector 23, and jumped away just in time, saving his life.
The car crashed into the cart with great force, throwing it several metres and scattering vegetables across the road.
Authorities confirmed the driver fled the scene immediately after the collision.
The affected vendor has filed a complaint at the Gauchi police station. Officials said they are examining the footage and working to identify the car and trace the reckless motorist.
India has one of the highest rates of road accidents in the world, with thousands of fatalities and injuries reported each year.
The startling bad track record is blamed on unsafe road conditions, reckless driving, inadequate enforcement of traffic laws, and a lack of awareness about road safety.
