This is the terrifying moment a bull suddenly charged at a pedestrian in India, forcing him to flee for safety.
The quick-thinking man narrowly escaped serious injury after a stray bovine charged at him on a street in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on January 14.
CCTV footage shows the beast attacking the unsuspecting local standing on the roadside.
With barely a second to react, he dove behind a parked white car, using it to shield himself from the charging bull.
The animal circled the vehicle, but the resident managed to escape unharmed.
In a separate incident in Uttar Pradesh, an elderly resident was injured by a stray bull while attempting to drive it away. The animal, standing outside a residential area, suddenly turned aggressive when the man tried to scare it off.
He attempted to hide behind a motorcycle, but the bull chased him through the streets and knocked him to the ground.
The injured villager was taken to a hospital, where his condition was reported as serious on December 16.
India has hundreds of thousands of cows roaming its streets.
It is partly due to devout locals who follow Hindu customs, with cows regarded as sacred animals that cannot be eaten or slaughtered once they have stopped producing milk. The majority of states ban the sale or slaughter of cows.
Instead of dealing with the economic burden of keeping their spent cattle, many farmers let the beasts roam the streets - leading to chaos when the animals become agitated and turn their fury on humans.
