This is the shocking moment a pedestrian fell into an uncovered manhole on a pavement in India.
A cleaning vehicle from the municipal corporation was carrying out routine road maintenance when the girl passing by plunged into a water-filled, filthy sewer opening.
CCTV footage shows the teenager dropping into the manhole at Bara Saraga Bazaar in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on January 19.
One of her legs anchored her weight against the rim, preventing her entire body from being submerged.
A pensioner walking ahead of her rushed back, along with other bystanders, to assist as she lifted herself out of the hole.
The girl sustained injuries to her leg and is currently recovering from the incident.
