This is the amusing moment a cat was spotted attempting to chase a fish beneath a frozen pond surface.
A passerby noticed the tuxedo feline running back and forth across the ice sheet as it followed the fish swimming below in Shaanxi, China.
Footage shows the kitty pawing at the ice and continuously darting across the pond on January 7.
Realising that it could not catch the fish, the animal stopped and sat still, seemingly confused by what was happening.
China's winters, lasting from late November to March, are notoriously harsh, characterised by strong winds, dry air, and sporadic frost and snowfall.
