This is the split-second moment a shop owner narrowly avoided a falling flowerpot after he stepped away to feed a cat.
CCTV footage shows the lucky vendor removing leftovers from plates into a metal basin before approaching the ginger feline lounging on the ground in Guizhou, China.
As he walked towards the kitty, the heavy flowerpot suddenly plummeted from above and smashed onto the spot where he had been standing moments earlier on January 27.
The loud bang caused both the man and the cat to turn around in visible shock as soil from the clay container scattered across the floor.
The relieved shop owner said: 'I often feed the stray cat near my restaurant, and I believe that this routine act of kindness unintentionally saved my life.'
