This is the amusing moment a vulture was seen hopping along at a Chinese zoo, a quirky habit that has made it an online star and visitor favourite.
Footage shows Xiaotu, the lively bird of prey, jumping and flapping its wings with excitement as it makes its way into its enclosure at Wuhan Zoo in Hubei Province, China.
The bird can be seen waddling along a concrete path, with its keeper, Mr Wang, following closely behind on February 7.
Mr Wang said that Xiaotu has been at the zoo for more than three years.
He added: 'This playful behaviour has become a daily routine that has turned Xiaotu into an online celebrity. It is perfectly normal behaviour. Xiaotu is a very happy animal, and its daily 'work' routine usually lasts for about a minute.'
Experts speculate that the bird's behaviour is a way to burn off its energy since it does not have to spend hours soaring to find carcasses. In many intelligent bird species, this manifests as playful behaviour, especially if they have a positive relationship with their keeper.
