This is the shocking moment a firecracker misfired and flew into a family's living room.
Liying, her husband, and their children were detonating fireworks in their garden to mark the Chinese New Year when one of the devices flew into their house in Hunan, China.
CCTV footage shows the ignited firecracker hurling into the room and emitting a deafening sound on February 12.
It then hit the floor, sending sparks and smoke billowing into the air.
The husband rushed inside to extinguish the firecracker and made sure that the sparks did not ignite the furniture, preventing a potential fire.
No one was injured in the incident.
Liying recalled that the firecracker had barely been lit when it suddenly veered off course and headed straight into the house.
She said: 'That was terrifying. What if the fireworks had injured a child or an elderly person? The consequences would have been dire. We always think it's okay, but the dangers behind fireworks never follow the rules. Safety is paramount, and we must be careful.'
Following the incident, Liying said she would no longer allow her children to handle fireworks.
She added: 'I always feel that fireworks make the New Year atmosphere special, but really, it is enough for the whole family to be together.'
