A reckless motorcycle rider who was asked to stop smoking sparked his lighter - only fore flames to jump onto his face.
Dharmendra Kshatri was allegedly asked to put out his cigarette while having his motorbike tank filled in Chhattisgarh, India.
CCTV footage shows Dharmendra being pushed away by his friend Imran after being told off by a staff member on February 19.
However, Dharmendra deliberately lit the lighter next to the pump nozzle, which quickly caught fire as pal Imran hopped off the two-wheeler.
Dharmendra stood watching as the blaze spread, but flames flew to his face as the shocked employee threw the burning pump away.
Inspector Rohit Mahelkar, an investigator from Urla Police Station, said: 'Both accused were later arrested based on a complaint filed by the pump manager and CCTV footage from the site.'
The pair was charged with arson, which carries a penalty of up to 10 years' imprisonment or life imprisonment.
The inspector added that the workers quickly controlled the blaze using an extinguisher.
