This is the shocking moment a grandmother and a young boy narrowly avoided being struck by falling snow from an apartment block roof.
The woman had just stepped outside with her mother and young son when a sheet of compacted snow crashed down at the entrance of the apartment complex in Tyumen Oblast, Russia.
CCTV footage shows the woman in a beige coat walking ahead while the child pauses to wait for his grandmother, who is slowly descending the steps using a cane, on February 17.
Moments later, the pair stop just as a heavy slab of snow suddenly shears off the roof above and slams into the ground behind them.
As the snow crashes down in a cloud of white powder, the grandmother instinctively shields the child with her body.
The woman, who had already crossed the street, immediately turns back and rushes through the swirling snow to check on them.
Local reports said no one was injured, though those involved were left badly shaken by the near miss.
The Tyumen Region State Housing Inspectorate said the building's managing company, Ozyornoye, later cordoned off the area with warning tape and carried out snow removal work.
Authorities had previously warned the company about violations of mandatory housing maintenance requirements.
