This is the shocking moment a father had a domestic scare when an iron burst into flames.
Edrowin Jose Padilla was heating the appliance as he prepared his daughter's school uniform in Batangas, the Philippines, when it suddenly short-circuited.
CCTV footage shows Edrowin taking the iron from a cabinet and plugging it in on January 19.
He can be seen moving the device across the ironing board to warm it up when its wire suddenly caught fire.
Flames appeared, prompting the startled father to jump back in shock and quickly unplug the extension cord.
His daughter, who was eating breakfast nearby, could be heard screaming, while his brother, who had been sleeping, was woken by the noise.
The blaze quickly subsided, and Edrowin later inspected the iron and its burnt wire.
Edrowin did not suffer any injuries in the incident. He recalled that the damage to the wire was difficult to spot because the hole was very small.
Edrowin said: 'The iron had been bought cheaply online before the school term started, and I used it almost every day except weekends when there was no school.
'I have become more afraid to plug in electrical appliances, especially in the laundry area where the floor is often wet, because it feels dangerous. The experience has also made me more cautious about buying cheap appliances online.
'Since the iron broke, my daughter's uniform has remained wrinkled because we have not bought a new one yet.'
He added that the electrical fault was frightening because the wire produced flames and a loud buzzing sound. He feared that if he had touched it, the current might have caused his hand to lock onto the wire due to the strong vibration.
